Ankle zipper jeans from the 80s! Embellished with a cute denim bow. They've made a come back at popular shops like Asos and Top Shop, but I can tell you, there are many to be had at the thrift store. They're bitchin' ...ah lol terrible just terrible. For more 80s slang here's a link haha, get your laughs in http://www.liketotally80s.com/2009/05/80s-slang/

Its very difficult to walk away from a plaid dress at thrift stores. So I didn't. This one is wool and I love that it has a deep v neck so layering piece shows though. Black and white stripes go well with this dark plaid, as does leather.

We've been having no coat required kind of weather here lately.
I'm layering today with this thrifted wool buffalo check mens shirt over this striped cotton t-shirt dress. Fleece lined leggings of course and a repeat fall winter favorite, hiking boots from Goodwill.

Only with fleece lined leggings of course. I am seemingly fixated on window pane printed clothing, and I'm sure if I see window pane house wear items while thrifting I would go to it.
Up close, I have to show you this gorgeous nail color by Essie called No Place Like Chrome. I've been wearing it a lot, its so shiny. And I'm mixing metals with this gold wire and stone bracelet.
The cat sneaking in the photo is Tip, she's the neighborhood adopted cat but frequents my house the most, I suspect the good food and endless pets have a little something to do with it.

Window pane print is most often found it black and white, I found this linen collar top in black red and white, aha! Have I charmed you with my thrifting skills? I kid. Anyway, this is another find I will get a lot of wear out of. High rise jeans were also thrifted.

Completely thrifted look today. This knit striped top reminds me of something my mom used to wear when she would garden, its a repeat favorite of mine. High waist shorts and these dark wash leggings are warm enough to wear outdoors especially with these shearling hiking heels. Finishing touch, a recent thrift find, this $4 wool cocoon coat.

This is the not the cold weather must haves as in surviving the cold, well a few could qualify for function, these are a few pretty things that go great in the cold weather. I have to add, that you can find similar items thrifting for sure.
Starting with a fur accessory, adds such a beautiful texture to your look. I adore this fur snood, its from River Island $24 which is a nice price. Below, Zoya's polish in Blu, such a gorgeous frost touch color. Left of that is cut out booties, I have found cut out booties at Goodwill before and grabbed them right away. They work for the cold weather because you're foot is still covered, but they're more interesting. These are by Kenzo. Above boots, a gorgeous Fair Isle sweater by Adam Lippes. I've said before these are the sweaters of the season and there are great vintage ones to be had thrifting. The last addition to this list is Nars satin lip pencil in Luxembourg. I love this color with a winter sweater! And yes I did mean to shout, its so vibrant and eye catching, in a crowd during winter you see greys and blacks its nice to break up the uniformity with a bright gorgeous lip.
Grey thrifted sweatshirt and this favorite almost forgotten maxi skirt. I love the drama of the pleating. Underneath the skirt is ultra warm fleece leggings, such an amazing invention!
Adding more layering, this is a blazer I thrifted for less than $1, I sewed the pearls on to make it more interesting (video here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yCHWBDQ7mx0&list=UUB8pwsOwMRhtxCJ871wvJ6A) and then to keep my neck warm and to add more drama to the berry toned lipstick, I put on this thrifted fur collar.

Even if you're not an avid thrifter, I'm sure you like saving money. Buying beauty products online from outlets other than official retailers can be kind of worrisome, especially from Ebay. One amazing resource I use online is http://checkcosmetic.net/, I'm able to look up the beauty product there, enter in the lot number, and it verifies authenticity by when it was made and gives you an estimated expiry date. I can tell you from experience using it, that it is very accurate. Need proof? Of course we all do,here's a picture of a bad beauty buy off of Ebay.
One of my favorite lip balms, Caudalie's lip conditioner. It normally retails for $12 for just the lip balm, so I was happy to find a set for the cost of the balm. When I received it and opened it, I discovered the smell to be acrid and dry, not the normal soft white grape scent. After this I found the cosmetic calculator site (http://checkcosmetic.net/) I entered in the lot number on the bottom of the balm to find it was made more than 3 years ago. Ugh.
Anyway this site could be a girl who buys beauty online's best friend. And they have so many brands listed from Adidas to Yves Saint Laurent.

My favorite floral prints are against a black backdrop. This floral dress is actually a large maxi skirt pulled up and voilà, a dress! I feel poetic over this dress, the flowers are escaping the inevitable dark cold of winter. Maybe its the weather, maybe its Portishead's fault.
I am inspired to do a winter floral themed week.

Last night I did my Christmas decorating. Vintage Christmas tunes playing because that's the only kind that's any good. And in the boxes that live in the basement I found this Charlie Brown Christmas tree I forgot about. So cute!

I was thinking about these infinity scarves/snoods that have been in the shops this season. The ultra plush chunky ones can be pretty pricey, so I stopped in Michael's and fell for this grey silver yarn. Since its so thick it only took me about an hour to crochet my own snood. Humble bragging, I'm just happy with it and its so warm.

What's in your closet that you reach for often? If you stop by my blog often you'll see my repeat favorites. This fair isle sweater being one of them. It might be boring in the world of fashion to see the same thing again and again, unless it has versatility, then its interesting loved and useful, also extra points for being warm and comfy!
If we don't chat tomorrow, Happy Thanksgiving!

Two amazing thrift finds. This camel cropped sleeveless turtleneck and !Bang! This very metallic foil skirt. I am excited to style this find many different ways. It has warmed up a teeny tiny bit outside, so before it does turn completely frigid, I'm going to enjoy this foil skirt.

In the north of Scotland is a small island called the Fair Isle, that's where this pattern and technique of knit is from. Fair Isle sweaters are the quintessential garb of fall and winter don't you think?
I have it over this oxblood reptile texture dress. Chelsea boots were also a thrift find.
The details are a new found love, Wet n Wild's lipstick in Cherry Bomb. A beautiful wine red with hints of a plummy purple.

Hope its sunny where you are. The cold here has showed up today and its almost painful to get hit by that wind. Because of that, I'm skeptical about the yard sale listings online, but I'm still up for dragging my butt out of my warm bed to go out and look for some cool pieces. I'm trying to finish a mini wall gallery in my bedroom and I need a few more interesting pieces.
I hope to report back with some great finds. Have a good weekend thrift friends!

Retro style glasses, tessellation print collar top, sweat pants, and ankle cut out booties, make today's thrifted look. Everything thrifted except these Miu Miu rasoir inspired glasses, they were a thrifty buy off of ebay.
Its nice being able to go about your day in sweats giving off the illusion of having it pulled together with a comfortable collar shirt and a moisturizing lipstick.

Do you ever wonder about the past life of a thrifted piece? Let's not think of grimacing possibilities lol. This gorgeous dress I showed in a haul video some time ago reminds me of the glamor from the show the Love Boat, its definitely circa 1970s/80s and has probably been seen at parties where they sipped dry martinis.
I don't want to wait for my next cruise ship party, so I paired it with this sweatshirt, high socks, and wedge booties. I like mixing beautiful pieces with casual ones.

I seem to go for this hot pink color in the fall and winter. I wish the fuzz on this thrifted sweater was also on the inside...but that might add a strange gorilla like bulk. Needless to say, I love this bold atomic pink for this time of year. Its a change to the usual beloved dark colors.
